In CT, where POCDs are advisory, your town’s planning commission is responsible for developing and updating your community’s plan. However, it is very important to involve each of your town's boards and commissions and the residents of your community in the planning process. Since the document is advisory, it is only with your community’s support that your POCD will become a reality.
Under MA law, planning boards are required to make “careful studies” and, when necessary, “prepare plans of resources, possibilities, and needs of the city or town” and submit those plans to the city council or board of selectmen with recommendations. Planning Boards are required to create a Master Plan as the board may deem advisable and extend that plan as necessary over time. |
